This morning, the oppressive Trump administration, in continuation of and in coordination with the Israeli attacks, attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities. These attacks are a clear violation of international law and an aggressive act to change the map of the Middle East in favor of the imperialist powers and the aggressive Israeli government in the region. The US attacks occurred one day after three European countries negotiated with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic about the nuclear program. The European governments’ demand in Geneva was for Iran to return to the negotiating table with the US and accept talks about enrichment and stopping it. However, the Islamic Republic not only refused to continue negotiations with the US after the Israeli attack, this time its Foreign Minister also postponed the return to negotiations until the Israeli attacks stopped. Now, the US entry into a war that began with Israel’s invasion of Iranian soil, the destruction of some vital infrastructure, the killing and wounding of thousands, and the displacement of millions, could turn this war into another catastrophic military conflict in the region.

We call on the United Nations and other peacekeeping institutions, as well as progressive, peace-loving, and freedom-loving forces in Iran, the region, and the world, not to remain silent and to take action to stop this war. The claim of the Netanyahu government, and primarily the Trump administration, that they have “compassion for the Iranian people” is nothing more than a deceptive claim. These claims are made, among others, by a criminal who, under the pretext of crushing Hamas, has reduced Gaza to dust and blood, and so far, more than 50,000 people, mostly children and women, have died in this unprecedented massacre. In Gaza, not only human lives, but also life and nature have been destroyed, and US President Trump is considering relocating millions of displaced people from Gaza and turning their habitat into another Las Vegas in the Middle East.

Today is the time for the cry of no war, no warmongers, and no tyranny to resound louder than ever, and for the purpose of lasting peace, global pressure for an unconditional ceasefire without losing time should increase. The more the war in Iran escalates, the more the security of the people will be jeopardized not only in Iran but also in the region. The people of Iran do not need US bombing or Netanyahu’s false sympathy to free themselves from the Islamic Republic. They themselves have risen up against the tyranny of the Islamic Republic and are fighting for freedom and justice. The Israeli and US attacks, first of all, hurt the freedom-seeking uprising of the Iranian people and make the establishment of democracy more difficult. The continued military attacks by Israel and the United States are neither a savior nor a guarantee of peace and security. It is the Iranian people who will pay the price for the destruction of the bombings and will never forget this aggression, destruction and loss of life.

The Left Party of Iran strongly condemns the Trump administration’s military attack on Iran; it calls for an immediate ceasefire, an unconditional cessation of the war, an immediate halt to the Israeli and American aggression on Iranian soil, and an end to military actions by all parties. We support a return to the negotiating table.
