Let Us Intensify the Struggle for the Release of the Detainees at the Memorial Ceremony for Khosrow AliKurdi!
December 28, 2025
As you know, on December 12, 2025, a memorial ceremony was held at the invitation of Mr. Javad AliKurdi, the brother of late Khosrow AliKurdi, and with the presence of hundreds of citizens, civil activists, and human rights activists. During this ceremony, a group of supporters of Mr. Reza Pahlavi, along with the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic, attempted to disrupt the ceremony and create an atmosphere of fear and terror. Narges Mohammadi and a group of civil activists and a significant number of participants in the ceremony were arrested with extreme violence.
No official information has been released in recent days about the physical or legal conditions of the detainees; Narges Mohammadi's family and children, and the families of some other detainees, have expressed their concerns and called for their immediate and unconditional release.
We call on political parties and organizations, democratic institutions, and human rights activists to intensify the struggle for the release of the recently arrested and all political prisoners in any way they see fit. In our opinion, collective actions are more effective and efficient. But even if for any reason it is not possible to act collectively, it is important that the activities become as broad, powerful, and public as possible so that they can create a strong wave against the regime's injustice and for the release of political prisoners and recent arrests. Simply issuing a statement is not enough. Protest demonstrations and gatherings, letters to democratic authorities and institutions, international and Persian-language media, etc., each have their own role and effect.
Let us note that the main target of the struggle is the Islamic Republic. This goal should not be overshadowed by dealing with the ugly and destructive actions of extremist forces defending the monarchy and Reza Pahlavi. The Islamic Republic, which is currently caught in multiple crises and fight against each other internally, is struggling to save its own life by diverting our struggle to get rid of this regime from its main goal. Let us be vigilant not to fall into this trap.
