The Islamic Republic of Iran executed Aqeel Keshavarz, a 27-year-old architecture student at Shahroud University. Regime’s judicial authorities had convicted him on charges of "spying for Israel," and the official media of the judiciary carried out his sentence in Urmia Prison today. During the current year, the regime has arrested, tried, and even executed several other individuals on similar charges.

These executions and widespread arrests are occurring in a situation where the Islamic Republic is more incapable of governing the country than at any other time. Inflation is rampant and the majority of the people are becoming poorer day by day. Despite all this incompetence, the regime's only way to intimidate society is through repression and executions, in the only area where it has not yet run out of steam. However, the people of Iran have become so awake, aware, and bold that such inhuman and criminal behavior not only does not frighten them but has even made them bolder. Without a doubt, the voice of protests, in the workplace, in life, and on the streets against repression will be so loud that eventually the regime's leaders will retreat.

The Left Party of Iran, like all those who fight for freedom, social justice, and human rights, condemns the execution of Aqeel Keshavarz. A regime that deprives people of their right to life cannot continue its shameful life. As a left-wing political party and advocate of freedom and democracy, we call on political parties, organizations, democratic institutions, and human rights activists to unite and make their voices heard against these crimes. Without coordination, cooperation, and unity of the democratic forces, the Islamic Republic will continue its shameful rule and take more lives.
