In recent days, torrential rains and the resulting floods have caused a lot of damage. So far, twenty-one provinces of the country have been affected by floods, at least fifty-six people have died in these floods and twenty-eight others have been declared missing. Over the past few days, number of victims has been increasing hour by hour.

The Meteorological Organization has warned about the risk of flooding in Sistan and Baluchistan, Kerman, Fars, Isfahan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad and Khuzestan and announced that the country will continue to be affected by torrential rains and storms until Monday. Also, the provinces of Tehran, Alborz, Qazvin, Qom, Semnan, Hormozgan, Bushehr, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Yazd, Central and North Khorasan, Zanjan, Golestan, Mazandaran, Gilan, Kurdistan and Lorestan are in the next category of this risk. It has considered the possibility of heavy rains in Gilan, Kurdistan and Lorestan.

The damage caused by the floods is not yet clear. But according to the published information, only in Sistan and Baluchistan province, about three hundred houses need to be renovated. The historical fabric of Yazd city is under severe damage. It is difficult to deliver aid to remote areas due to the destruction of roads and the rapidity of rains turning into floods. Of course, global climate and weather changes have been effective in creating the current situation, but the dimensions of the floods show that the necessary forecasts have not been made to prevent this type of natural disasters. On the contrary, according to the statements of many experts, "construction activities" alongside of the rivers and the destruction of riverbanks have been among the main causes of floods.

Dear Compatriots

These days, a large part of the people in the areas that were exposed to floods are going through difficult times. The evidence indicates that in many areas, aids have not been provided or has been delayed. Affected people need immediate help. With our cooperation, let us put a salve on the pain and sorrow caused by this violence of nature in the lives of the affected compatriots. Not only has the Islamic Republic not included addressing people's problems and planning to protect their lives among its plans, but it also hinders the direct cooperation of popular institutions. In all the times when floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters have put people's lives at risk, one of the important steps taken by the regime has been to create obstacles for direct assistance to the people. Basically, this regime is ineffective in preventing catastrophes, mitigating damages and helping people.

Our party, the Left Party of Iran (People’s Fadaian), expresses its sympathy and condolences to the survivors of the recent floods and call on all those who care about people to take action in every way they can, including by using their experiences to create popular institutions to help the affected people.
