The Confirmation of Sharifeh Mohammadi's Death Sentence is the Regime's Fear of the Freedom-Seeking Movement of the Iranian People!
No to Execution, No to Repression, No to the Islamic Republic

The confirmation of Sharifeh Mohammadi’s death sentence, a labor activist, is another stain of shame on the record of the Islamic Republic's ongoing repression and corruption. Throughout its life, this regime has brought nothing to the Iranian people except killing, torturing, and imprisonment, and now, as it is caught in the deadlock of its destructive policies, it has no way forward or back. It is both under the whip of the people's movement and is caught in the worst possible conditions internationally, but it continues to think of revenge on the activists of the country's civil and political movements. Issuing death sentences against activists of the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement, including in the case of Sharifeh Mohammadi, is a sign of the regime's criminal rulers' hatred of the Iranian people.

While the people are still suffering from the consequences of its 12-day war with Israel, the devastation and loss of life and property, and are crushed under economic pressure and suffering from lack of water and electricity, this regime, instead of responding to the self-created crises and devastation, has intensified internal repression and is trying to silence every voice of freedom in the country by issuing heavy sentences to political and civil activists. The confirmation of Sharifeh Mohammadi’s death sentence by the Supreme Court, without addressing the ambiguities and legal objections that led to its violation, demonstrates the Islamic Republic’s determination to murder this labor activist and its hatred against the women’s movement in our country at any cost. The first death sentence for this prisoner was issued by the first branch of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Ahmad Darvish Goftar, and after it was overturned by the Supreme Court, it was sent back for review to the second branch of the Rasht Revolutionary Court, headed by Mohammad Ali Darvish Goftar, the son of the first judge. The sentence was reaffirmed in the Court of Appeal.

The death sentences for Sharifeh Mohammadi, Pakhshan Azizi, and Varisheh Moradi are examples of the ongoing wave of repression. These are women whose crimes were not resorting to violence, but rather their insistence on freedom, justice, and civic activism in pursuit of their human ideals. They are victims of state violence by the Islamic Republic and its murderers.

The Left Party of Iran strongly condemns these inhuman sentences. We call on all progressive forces, labor unions, and human rights institutions to stand against the spread of executions and imprisonment. We call on political parties, organizations, and democratic and civil institutions to work together to defend the lives of Sharifeh Mohammadi and other people facing execution, despite their differences, by emphasizing their commonalities. Without a doubt, one of the factors behind the spread of repression in the Islamic Republic is our dispersion. Let us believe that if we join our voices together and turn them into a cry to save the lives of prisoners, we will push the regime back. Let us believe that the regime's ears are sensitive to the language of force.
