The Success of the "Women, Life, Freedom" Movement Depends on the Solidarity and Enduring Unity of the Forces Involved in it!
On the Occasion of the Second Anniversary of the "Women, Life, Freedom" Movement September 11, 2024

The "Women, Life, Freedom" movement started two years ago against the crime of the murder of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini by the morality police of Islamic Republic, and in a short period of time, it spread throughout Iran from Kurdistan to Sistan and Baluchistan and moved a large part of the people. The name of Zhina, Mahsa became a code for the revolution against the imposed life under the rule of the Islamic Republic. In the continuation of the uprisings of November 2017 and January 2020, this movement reached a full-scale revolutionary uprising against the Islamic Republic and all its elements and its resounding presence in the streets, despite the brutal repression, killing of youth and children by the regime forces, especially in Kurdistan and Baluchistan and during the bloody Fridays of Zahedan, it continued for months, and put fear in the hearts of the rulers of the Islamic Republic. The reputation of this movement went beyond the national borders and was admired and praised in many different societies as a model of a modern movement.

The revolutionary movement of "Woman, Life, Freedom" with its action power, is the beginning of the end of the shameful rule of the Islamic Republic over the destiny of the country and the pioneer of opening new perspectives for the future of Iran. With the brave presence of men and women, especially the wide participation of the young generation in it, this movement echoed the desire to be freed from the shackles of the Islamic regime and the foundation of secular, democratic, just and modern society, leaving behind the symbols of the Islamic regime and its imposed patterns and by creating a different and progressive culture from the imposed ruling culture breathed a new spirit into the society. It made the main centers of struggle against tyranny and autocracy more active and strengthened convergence in civil, demanding, national and ethnic struggles, and became the axis of national solidarity and opened new horizons for popular movements.

The "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement took the public arena and the street out of the monopoly of the regime, to the extent that it turned even the prisons into a scene of courageous confrontation with the regime. The continuous and praiseworthy actions and protests of the prisoners against the execution and against the injustices of the regime is another sign of the reality of the collapse of the wall of fear that the regime had built by using force and erecting gallows. This movement also breathed a new breath into the prosecution movement by establishing a link between the families of the victims of the regime in the 80s and especially the massacre of 1988 and the families of the victims of the repression of the regime in the uprisings of 2017 and 2020 and the families of the victims of the revolutionary uprising of Zhina.

The "Women, Life, Freedom” movement, with the power of its action, also increased the fear of the future in the ranks of the Islamic Republic and this fear made the plans of the regime's leaders sterile. Khamenei's retreat from purification and his struggle to bring people to the polls in the 14th presidential election was one of the effects of this movement and a sign of the inner fear of the main pillars of the regime about their future in the face of the progress of the people's revolutionary movement and a futile attempt to consolidate the shaky foundations of the regime. However, the desire of the Iranian people and the goal of the "Women, Life of Freedom" movement, far beyond this or that tactical withdrawal of the regime from some of its positions, is the removal of the entire regime as the main obstacle to transformation in the country. The path opened by the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement and the step taken for change, is one of no return. The "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement is intertwined with the movements of workers, teachers, retirees, nurses and other broad social groups at the level of society and has become a decisive social force for the establishment of freedom and social justice.

Today, all the measures of the Islamic Republic to return the society to the era before the revolutionary movement of "Woman, Life of Freedom" have failed. During the past two years, although our society has been facing regime repression every day, resistance against the regime has become more universal and the forms of civil confrontation with the regime have become more diverse, and in many areas, the force of regime pressure and repression has failed. The "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement is still ongoing in the heart of the society, and at any moment it can rise again on the basis of economic and political conditions, with more resonance and more crushing practical power.

In the second anniversary of the "Woman, Life, Freedom" movement, we are still faced with urgent tasks to strengthen the ranks of the defenders of this revolutionary movement, especially the defenders of freedom, democracy and socialism. The second anniversary is an opportunity to learn from past experiences, fix its shortcomings and errors, strengthen the ranks of the struggle against the Islamic Republic, and emphasize the goals, achievements, and continuation of the ongoing struggle of this movement. We support the strikes, gatherings and protests held on the anniversary of the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement and we participate in them. We invite other citizens, civil and trade union organizations and political parties to participate in commemorating the second anniversary of the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement in any way they can and to work to advance the democratic and progressive goals of the movement. We still believe that the success of the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement depends on the solidarity and enduring unity of the forces involved in it!

On the second anniversary of the revolutionary movement "Women, Life, Freedom", the Left Party of Iran honors the memory of the victims of this movement and other victims of the struggle for freedom, democracy and social justice, and sends greetings to their families who have always been under pressure from the regime. Our party praises the steadfastness of the fighters who are standing in prisons across the country and respects the steadfast determination of the activists of the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement and civil and union movements.
