We condemn the attempt to kidnap the opponents of the Islamic Republic!

The US Justice Department says Iranian intelligence services were planning to abduct an Iranian journalist and human rights activist from New York City with the intention of taking her to Iran via Venezuela. The names of the members of the Iranian-affiliated network which was involved in the operation was also published. Although in the context of US policy towards Venezuela, a political game is not completely ruled out but given the history and performance of the Islamic Republic, the basis of the news can be taken seriously.

The assassination and kidnapping of the opponents of the Islamic Republic has been going on for four decades without interruption and with ups and downs. Ruhollah Zam was tricked into entering Iraq, where he was abducted and smuggled into Iran. Later, he was tortured and executed in Tehran. A few months ago, Assadullah Asadi, an employee of the Islamic Republic's embassy in Austria, was arrested and sentenced to prison along with two others in Belgium for plotting a bomb during the meeting of the 'National Council of Resistance of Iran' in France. The case of the assassination of the opponents of the Islamic Republic is so terrible and shameful that few are unaware of it. From the two general secretaries of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, Dr. Abdolrahman Ghassemlou and Dr. Sadegh Sharafkandi, and their companions in Vienna and Berlin to Kazem Rajavi in Switzerland, Shapur Bakhtiar, Reza Mazlouman and Abdolrahman Boroumand in Paris and hundreds of others in various European and Middle Eastern countries and Pakistan have been the victims of the reign of terror by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Relying on the conciliation of some governments, the Islamic Republic has so far been able to assassinate or kidnap hundreds of its opponents abroad. During these years, the government kidnapped citizens of other countries and took them hostage in order to create an atmosphere of terror among its opponents and to keep the morale of its mercenaries high. During these years, except for short periods when the terrorist activities of the government were temporarily decreased, the market for assassination of the opponents has always been thriving and in recent years, the activities and plots of the regime have become more vigorous and complex.

The Left Party of Iran (People's Fadaian) condemns the plan to kidnap Masih Alinejad and the terrorist acts of the Islamic Republic against the opposition abroad. The way to deter the Iranian government from assassination and other conspiracies against opponents is to uncover the list of regime's secret agents abroad. Currently, Hamid Nouri, an agent of the Islamic Republic and a judicial assistant at 'Gohardasht' and 'Evin' prisons, is on trial in Sweden. Nouri's trial is a test for Western countries; Countries whose governments, unfortunately, have not yet taken appropriate and effective measures in this regards despite the conspiracies and assassinations that have taken place on their territories. We call on the political organizations and democratic institutions and all free-thinking people to explicitly condemn the conspiratorial actions of the Islamic Republic against the opposition, regardless their ideas and beliefs.
