Happy Nowruz, Welcome spring!

On the eve of entering the 15th solar calendar century, the Nowruz is remembered by all those who gave their lives for their humanitarian ideals. Happy New Year to the men and women of our country, to the Iranians far from home and wherever they are and to the people all over the world who celebrate the ritual of Nowruz.

At the end of the fourteenth century a dark year passed by. The Covid-19 virus killed nearly 2.7 million people and left many around the world mourning the loss of their loved ones. The economy of the world's largest industrial centers collapsed as a result of this pandemic. Millions of people, especially in underdeveloped countries, were laid off without minimal social security. Inequality against this dangerous virus has become even more apparent.

In the last months of the year, however, the vaccine for this disease was discovered and the world has come out of anxiety and despair and the hope for better life is reviving throughout the globe. It is hoped that after putting behind Corona and based on the context of experiences learned, humanity will pay more attention to the general issues of today's world. It is hoped that the intertwining of the fates of all human beings at this time will become more apparent throughout the world. Corona revealed that the world, with all its divisions and differences, is facing a common threat. Therefore, it can only be defied with global solidarity.

Last year was a difficult and painful year for the Iranian people. In addition to the Corona, the Islamic Republic continued to spread its menacing shadow over the country. Executions, repressions, and imprisonment continued throughout the year and the government put a sharp knife to the neck of our people and pressed through as far as it could go. A year which started by the assassination of the Kurdish merchant carriers, ended off by firing on the Baluchis oil carriers. Regime continued the detention of social, cultural, political, and labor activists and sentencing those arrested to harsh prison sentences did not stop even during Corona pandemic. Oppression increased against women and religious and ethnic minorities. Sanctions and high prices broke the backs of the people and the poor got even poorer. On the other hand, corruption, theft, and embezzlement became more widespread within the circle of rulers. The fight against Islamic Republic, however, did not stop.

Workers, nurses, retirees, teachers, and ethnic activists' struggles continued vigorously and in some cases pushed the government back. Prisoners did not succumb to pressure and intimidation under torture and flogging and their voices and the message of resistance passed through the walls of their cells and prisons and they were heard by the world. Plea movements erupted in every corner of the country. Although popular uprisings such as the November 2019 unrests were suppressed but the driving force behind those movements are under the surface of the society. That causes the government fears of a wider resumption of uprisings. The fear and the feeling of weakness of the government show the power of the people and the fact that if they are organized, people will bring down the ruling tyranny.

Last year, as in previous years, was the arena of great trials for the struggle of our people against the Islamic Republic. The struggle for a better and more humane life and the confrontation against the policies of the Islamic Republic in various areas of social life continued while the widespread corruption in the government system increased. Although US economic sanctions exacerbated the burden of poverty and unemployment but the change of government in the United States has made it possible to lift those sanctions and return to the Iran's Nuclear Deal. It is now clear that there is no other way than to de-escalate tensions with the United States and other countries and the start of unconditional negotiation. We hope that the civil struggles of the people of our country and the public opinion of the world will pressure both sides to pave the way for solving these problems.

The Left Party of Iran (People's Fadaian) salutes the Iranian people, especially the political prisoners and the families of the martyrs who stood up for the truth and justice. We salute those men and women who oppose discrimination and fight for freedom and equality. Our party salutes the workers, the toilers, the teachers and the retirees who continue to fight for their rightful demands. We greet those writers and intellectuals and artists who hold the banner of liberty. LPI salutes the leftist and democratic fighters who are ready to sacrifice their lives for freedom and social justice. We hope that the New Year will be a year for the people of our country to achieve their goals. Our party wishes all freedom fighters to unite in order to bury the ruling regime of our country and reach freedom and democracy and pave the way towards justice and equality. We hope that passion and enthusiasm flourish in the body and soul of our people while discrimination weakens. Let the seeds of hope to sprout in the heart of the homeland and the fragrance of freedom be sown in the skies of Iran as wide as possible.

Hoping for such a day, Happy Nowruz and Welcome Spring!
