Conviction of Assadollah Asadi and 3 other Iranians in the Belgian court

His Excellency Mr. Vincent Van Quickenborne

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice of Belgium

Subject: Conviction of Assadollah Asadi and 3 other Iranians in the Belgian court

Your Excellency!

Confirmation of the 20-year imprisonment of Assadollah Asadi, a former diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Austria and three others for planning a bombing of a People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran rally on May 4, 2021, once again exposed the dangerous reality that has plagued opposition forces of the Islamic Republic abroad for years. It is gratifying that the prosecutor in this case has announced that the Belgian government will not make any deal on this prisoner with Western prisoners in Iran.

During the 42 years of the Islamic Republic's rule, hundreds of Iranians opposed to the Islamic Republic have been assassinated and killed directly by the agents of this regime. European public opinion still remembers the assassinations of Kazem Rajavi in Switzerland, Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou in Vienna, Shapur Bakhtiar in Paris, and the September 1992 Mykonos assassination in Berlin, which led to the assassination of Sadegh Sharafkandi and three other members of the opposition.

The verdicts of the Paris and Berlin courts in condemning state terrorism played a historic and very important role in stopping the Islamic Republic's assassination machine abroad, and as a result, the umbrella of confidence and security for Iranians abroad.

According to reports, during the arrest, interrogation and investigation of Assadollah Asadi's case, which led to the conviction of four defendants in this case, Other names of security collaborators and spies of the Islamic Republic who are seeking information from Iranian opposition organizations and parties have been propounded.

disclosing names of the spies of the Islamic Republic in Europe can serve more security for European citizens and Iranian opposition activists and increase the security umbrella of these forces.

Our party, the Left Party of Iran (People's Fadaian) as one of the parties of the Democratic Opposition of Iran, while respecting the rulings issued for Asadi and his collaborators, demands that the names of other collaborators of Assadollah Asadi be disclosed to the Iranian opposition parties and organizations.

Sincerely yours,

Political-Executive Board of the Left Party of Iran (People’s Fadaian)
