Your Excellency:

You are aware of the death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish girl, after being arrested by the Islamic Republic of Iran's Guidance Patrol (morality police) for "not wearing hijab properly". You are also aware of the widespread protests of the Iranian people against the murder of Mahsa, against the mandatory hijab and the violation of the rights of women and the general citizens of Iran in the last two weeks.

The response of the Islamic Republic of Iran to these protests, as always, has been resorting to violence, suppression and killing and arresting the protesters. According to news sources, dozens of people have been killed and thousands of people have been arrested throughout Iran during these protests. We are deeply concerned that a more bitter fate awaits these detainees than what happened to the detainees in 2009.

We call on you to ask the authorities of the Islamic Republic to agree to your meeting with a delegation from that commission, with the detainees of the recent events in Iran, and arrange this meeting as soon as possible.

We eagerly await your action.

With respect

The Left Party of Iran (People’s Fadaian) - International Relations Office
