Following the terrorist act against the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), also known as Mojahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) in Paris, the cancellation of the organization's annual gathering on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of June 20, 1981 in Paris, the MEK camp in Albania was raided by the police of this country on Monday morning.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has announced in a statement that "at the request of the religious fascism ruling Iran" on Monday morning, about one thousand Albanian policemen attacked Camp Ashraf in a criminal and repressive act. They broke the doors, cupboards and personal belongings of this camp and attacked the residents with tear gas and pepper spray, broke many computers and took some with them. In this attack, Abdul Wahab Farajinejad (Ali Mostashari) died and more than one hundred people were injured due to pepper spray, some of them were reported to be in serious condition and some were transferred to Mother Teresa Hospital in Tirana.
The Ministry of Interior of Albania has also claimed that: "the MEK has violated the 2014 agreement" and the attack on the MEK camp was carried out "by the order of the special court against corruption and organized crimes". The government of Albania also added that "according to the agreement between us and the MEK in 2014, the members of this organization had become refugees in our country only for humanitarian reasons, but they have violated this agreement by carrying out terrorist and cyber activities."
The extensive operation against the MEK in Albania under the title of "Fighting Terrorism", immediately after the cancellation of their gathering in Paris, first of all, shows the change in the policy of Western governments towards this organization. Apparently, the agreement on the extradition of Asadullah Asadi, the terrorist diplomat of the Islamic Republic, in exchange for the release of the Belgian hostage of the regime, is beyond an isolated case deal and according to the recent actions, it can include other cases that are not limited to the MEK and it could also make the entire opposition face the unknown consequences of covert deals with the ruling regime in Iran.
The Left Party of Iran condemns the attack on the camp of the MEK in Albania and the ban on holding a rally of this organization in Paris and considers it a violation of their rights and freedoms within the framework of the rules and principles of Western societies. The night attack on the MEK camp and use of tear gas against them, who are considered refugees according to the international laws, is a violation of the conventions and treaties approved by the United Nations and a violation of their basic and human rights. We call for the intervention of the United Nations to stop these attacks and restore the rights and security of the residents of the MEK camp.
