“The execution of detainees from recent demonstrations is an alarming sign of the persistence of human rights violations in Iran.”

“The execution of detainees from recent demonstrations is an alarming sign of the persistence of human rights violations in Iran.”

“Taking a life when a life has been lost is revenge, not justice.” Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Dear friends of the Iranian people,

Hamgami, Coalition for a Secular Democratic Republic in Iran, sincerely believes in these wise words from Archbishop Tutu. As an organization concerned with the sanctity of human life, we are writing to express our outrage about the potential execution of our compatriots, particularly those who were recently arrested for participating in nonviolent protests in Iran, as well as Iranian political prisoners.

According to reliable reports, about 316 people have been executed during the recent protests in January 2026.

Furthermore, according to a report by Amnesty International, more than 1,000 people were executed in 2025.

We express our concern and urge you to do everything in your power to prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from continuing these massacres and other threats against prisoners in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

We ask you to take action to prevent the massacre of more innocent people in Iran, whose only crime is to claim their fundamental right to freedom and human rights.

Respectfully,

Hamgami, a Coalition for a Secular Democratic Republic in Iran
