Statement by four Republican parties and organizations:
Arrested protestors of the recent demonstrations must immediately be released!
As a result of the violent assaults by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran many of our compatriots have been killed; thousands injured, and thousands have been detained and sent to prison. All evidences indicate that the detainees are being subjected to severe torture and pressure to authenticate government’s allegations that could justify their bloody suppression of the protesters and pave the way for prisoners’ heavy conviction. The courts of the Islamic Republic have a long history of issuing heavy sentences to create a climate of intimidation and destruction of protesters' image. Their work is based on false and fabricated confessions. Ali Khamenei by calling the recent unrests as "deep conspiracy" and "extremely dangerous", allowed the repressive institutions to continue to punish detainees under heavy iron fist policies and to sentence them to long term prison terms.
The torturers of the Islamic Republic have the mission of using various methods of mental torture to force detainees to untruthful confessions. They do so to validate Khamenei's pre-empted scenario of organizing protests by "alien forces" and to authenticate their cruel suppression of recent uprising by ordinary people in Iran.
The leaders of the Islamic Republic have repeatedly shown that in order to hold their grip on power, they do not hesitate to fight against people, to fill prisons and even to massacre their own citizens. They have always reduced the protests to incitement and conspiracy by outsiders. Workers 'and teachers' protests have also not been immune from government repression with such labels. In the Islamic Republic, corruptors and robbers of public treasure enjoy complete freedom. However, those protesting against the burglary and the exploitation of communal wealth, people protesting the government’s policy of eliminating the budget deficit by reaching to their empty pockets are labelled as the enemy and they face repression and imprisonment.
We, the four pro-Republic Parties and organization, declare our solidarity with the people of our country. We strongly condemn the suppression of the recent uprising by the leaders of the Islamic Republic. We express our deep sympathy with the families of the fallen and injured protesters. We issue a warning towards the pressures and tortures experienced by detainees in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
We call on the United Nations and the international human rights activists and organizations to take immediate action to prevent the killing of protesters and the torture and persecution of detainees in Iran.
We emphasize that instantly:
• Detainees arrested in the recent protests and all political, media and civil rights prisoners be freed;
• The increase of the price of petroleum which has caused higher prices for other consumer goods be removed;
• The present undeclared martial law throughout the country be lifted;
• Freedom of demonstration, assembly, freedom of expression and the right to express protest by people be formally recognized;
• Press censorship and threats against journalists by security agencies be stopped;
• The right to public access to the Internet and the free flow of information be recognized;
• A fact-finding commission be set up under the auspices of the United Nations to investigate the recent events and to publish the results of their findings;
• Provide the right for the families of the killed and injured to seek justice.
We, the four Democratic and Republican Parties and organizations, call on the people of our country to stand up against the regime for the fundamental rights of the Iranian people; we call on all our compatriots, human rights organizations and institutions to protest against suppression, massacre, arresting people and torturing them in prisons. We must speak for and spread the news of the struggles of our people against the regime of tyranny and suppression of the Islamic Republic. Let’s organize a network of solidarity with the Iranian people's uprising and their struggle against dictatorship, their struggle for freedom, democracy and justice in Iran.
