On the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Communist Party

Dear Comrades,

On behalf of all members of the Left Party of Iran (People's Fadaiyan), we express our sincere greetings on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Communist Party.

The Iraqi Communist Party was founded with socialist ideals and with the aim of peace, independence, freedom and democracy in Iraq and the Middle East. Like other communist and workers' parties in the period between World War I and World War II, your party has fought hard and selflessly to achieve its goals. To better understand the importance of your party's struggles, two important factors need to be mentioned. The first is the importance of the region's oil reserves and, consequently, the greed and attention of the major capitalist countries to maintain its dominance, inciting conflict and war in the region, and the second is the importance of Israel for the West and the continued occupation of Palestinian lands by the Israeli government. Undoubtedly, for all left-wing and progressive forces in the region, having the right policies in these two areas is important in addition to the general tasks and functions of the left.

Your party has always been a friend, companion and supporter of our struggles during the 50 years of the Fadaei movement which the majority of its activities has been continued in the Left Party of Iran during the last 3 since this party has formed. Your affiliation with the other Communist parties and Workers' Parties all around the world and the efforts you make for world peace and disarmament, has not slowed you from collaborating with other left-wing and progressive parties that share your fundamental goals and values, and this should be considered as one of the praiseworthy features of the Iraqi Communist party.

Once again, on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Communist party, we extend our sincere congratulations to each and every member of the party and to all Iraqi communists, and wish you success in advancing the goals of the party.
