image-20220725202731-1The conviction of Hamid Nouri is a great victory for the plaintiffs of the massacre of 1988 and other murders of the regime in prisons during the last four decades in Iran. This court and its verdict showed that the crime will never be forgotten and the criminals will not be immune from justice. Justice is waiting for them and their trial. There will be no way escaping it. The trial of Hamid Nouri was the trial of a regime whose all elements rely on murderers like Hamid Nouri and murderers like Raisi and Nayeri are still at the top on the list.

During a conference, today at noon, the judges of the Stockholm court announced their verdict regarding Hamid Nouri's accusations that he participated in the massacre of 1988. According to this verdict, Hamid Nouri was sentenced to the maximum punishment, life imprisonment. This is the first time that one of the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre has been convicted of being involved in the execution of political prisoners in the summer of 1988. Meanwhile, the main members of the "Death Committee" are still holding important regime’s posts. Including Ebrahim Raisi, who is in the position of the president of the regime. After months of listening to the plaintiffs, the testimony of ex-prisoners and the defense of Hamid Nouri and his lawyers, the Stockholm court confirmed that during the massacre of 1988, a horrific crime and executions contrary to the internationally accepted principles took place in the prisons of Iran.

The verdict of the Stockholm Court once again showed that the independent judicial system in democratic countries is committed to the implementation of justice and political considerations and threats of the Islamic Republic will not have an effect on the outcome. However, the Islamic Republic is trying to release criminals like Nouri from prison by holding European citizens and dual nationals hostage. Hostage taking of the Islamic Republic has caused the Belgian government to present a bill to the parliament to legalize the extradition of terrorists of the Islamic Republic.

The Left Party of Iran (People’s Fadaian) congratulates Hamid Nouri's sentence to the maximum punishment, to the Iranian justice seekers, to “Khavaran Mothers”, to the families and survivors of the 1988 massacre victims, and to all those who made such a trial possible with their efforts and regards this trial as the result of their persistence and as a beginning for the implementation of justice in the case of other criminals. The trial of Hamid Nouri was a great victory in opening the 1988 massacre case and documenting it using the documents and testimony of the plaintiffs and witnesses. This court will stay in history and other trials will follow suit. The verdict of this court in the days when the people of Iran have risen up against the Islamic Republic with their hearts and souls and are fighting with this criminal regime every day and in every corner of the country, is a confirmation of their desire to put the nightmare of the Islamic Republic and its crimes behind them.
