Political Prisoners Must be Freed! Mass Arrests of Protesters Will not Save the Regime from Collapse!

Since August 23rd (22nd of Shahrivar), thousands of activists of the revolutionary movement have been arrested and imprisoned in the most brutal way. The detainees are from different spectrums, including schoolchildren, students, professors, lawyers, journalists, doctors, teachers, singers, filmmakers, etc. Also, hundreds of known political and civil activists have been arrested by the security forces and transferred to unknown locations. The judicial system of the Islamic Republic, while acknowledging these extensive arrests, announced the news of issuing a petition against hundreds of prisoners on false charges such as "gathering and collusion with the intention of committing a crime against the security of the country" and "warfare" and plans to hold another show trial.

Over the past six weeks, the regime's repression forces have killed at least 277 people, of which more than forty were children and teenagers. The scenes of violence against the protestors in the films that have been published show the regime's brutality against the people who came to the streets with the slogan "Women, Life, Freedom" and protested. At the same time, by threatening the families and arresting and torturing the relatives of the deceased, the repressive institutions are trying to force them to publicly deny the murder of their children. In some cases, the regime, with complete impudence, tries to announce the victims of repression as its militia members and mercenaries and declare the death of young girls as suicide or due to a delusive disease. Actions that make its anti-human nature more obvious.

The Left Party of Iran (People’s Fadaian) strongly condemns the behavior of the regime towards the protesting people. Our party considers the continuation of these methods as a sign of the fear of the corrupt rulers of the Islamic Republic of the power of the people's movement. The widespread arrests of protesters have not freed the streets for this regime but have led to more anger of the people and the joining of new social groups to the movement and not only will it not create security for the regime, but it will also make its position more insecure. Using ambulances to arrest the regime’s opponents and sending thousands of mercenaries to protestors shows the regime's inability to face the continuity and extent of the people's revolutionary movement. A movement that has come to the scene with the most peaceful slogan will not stop with blatant violence, it will destroy the oppressive regime with its wider and more powerful presence. The wheel of history will not turn back. Issuing indictment against hundreds and thousands of people on trumped-up charges will not lead to success. The detainees should be released immediately and the beating and killing of the opponents should be stopped. Arrests should be stopped and all political and civil prisoners should be released.

We ask the militant people and all the activists of the revolutionary movement of Iran, to make the slogan "Political prisoners should be freed" more resonant in demonstrations, in the neighborhoods and on the streets of cities, in the workplace, in universities and on rooftops, and to make their determination to open the prisons doors more obvious.
