The election of June 28 showed the decisive will of the people in "NO" to the election show of the Islamic Republic in the most definite way. More than 60% of the eligible voters refused to attend the election polls of the regime. The low voter turnout at the ballot box was so surprising that the leader of the Islamic Republic, Khamenei, did not appear in front of the camera until five days after the "election", did not comment on it, and when he spoke after a few days, except admitting failure had nothing to say. But at the same time, he declared the second phase of the elections as "very important" and asked all those who love "Islam and the Islamic Republic" to show their "friendship" by participating in the election. While not only the opposition but even the insiders of the Islamic Republic have interpreted the lack of people's presence at the polling booths as opposition to the existing political system and the expression of the will of the majority of the Iranian people to transition from the Islamic Republic. As shown by the first round of the election, the majority of Iranian people not only despise the Islamic Republic, but they also consider this regime to be the main obstacle to any change and demand its removal.
The only result of the first round of elections is the determination of the competition between two figures from two different alignments within the regime in the second round. Saeed Jalili, the leading figure of the extreme fundamentalists in the "Paydari Front" and Masoud Pezeshkian, who is close to the reformists and one of the figures supported by them. The emulation between the two with these characteristics encourages the temptation to participate in the elections in favor of one and against the other. But experience has shown that in the Islamic Republic, the main decision-maker is not the president, but the leader of the regime and the institutions under his command. Especially the stronger figures in the last few decades, in cases where there was a difference between the Supreme Leader and presidents, they have actually promoted the policy and words of the "Leader". Now the task of Pezeshkian who introduced himself as the executor of Khamenei's order or Jalili who is devotee of the Leader, is already clear. At the present moment, the main choice, despite the differences between the two candidates, is not basically between Jalili and pezeshkian, but for the majority of the society, the choice is between the continuation of the Islamic Republic, considering the experience of more than four decades of its rule, and their desire to end the whole system and establishment of democracy and secularism in Iran. Voting for each of these "chosens", regardless of the difference between them, will actually serve the continuation of this corrupt regime. What our society needs is fundamental changes in all aspects of life. Call to participate in the circus of election directed by Khamenei and his dictatorial apparatus is hoping for the favor and mercy of the dictator.
The non-attendance of more than 60% of the people at the polling stations was a blow to all the regime’s organs. This success of the people can weaken the morale of the regime's forces and strengthen distrust in the future within them. The continuation of this policy in the continuation of the effects and changes left by the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement can force the regime leaders and Khamenei to further retreat. Just as the womens’ revolutionary movement of our country broke the taboo of compulsory hijab and the regime could not and will not be able to revive it with all its resources, the shocking consequences of the mass boycott can have similar effects on the country's electoral system, the regime's dominance over the ballot boxes will face a serious challenge and put an end to the violation of the civil rights of the Iranian people. This is something that cannot be done by a president who has emerged from the filter of the Guardian Council and approved by Khamenei.
The Left Party of Iran believes that the widespread boycott of the June 28 election, as a continuation of the revolutionary movement "Women, Life, Freedom", was another glorious show of power against the Islamic Republic regime in its most civilized form, which brought irreversible achievements. Let’s cherish this success and by emphasizing our position, in this round we should turn the sanctions policy into a collective and national emergence to openly confront the regime. The experience of the first round of this election showed that the plans of the regime can be thwarted with unity. In the first round, the mass defection of the people, which was accompanied by the broad support of workers, teachers, pensioners and other wage earners, was able to neutralize the propaganda efforts of the regime and its supporters. This time too, we must stand and pave the way for fundamental changes in the country by relying on the united will of the majority of the people. By emphasizing the boycott policy, we will make the regime face defeat in the second round of the election once again.
