We Condemn the Tense Actions of the United States and Israel!

We Warn against the Provocative Actions of the Islamic Republic!

In the context of a range of political interactions, we are witnessing some military movements in the region, which are worrisome and alarming. The deployment of a US nuclear submarine to the waters of the Persian Gulf and the announcement of an Israeli military presence in the Gulf, the bombing of militias backed by the Islamic Republic in Syria by Israel and the killing of at least six militants and the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh responsible for producing long-range missiles on the one hand and the militants' rocket fire on the US embassy and the Baghdad Green Zone, on the other hand, are parts of ongoing scenarios. In the face of a crucial political crisis within the country, Netanyahu's right-wing government is forced to hold early elections and sees itself in need of creating tensions to divert public opinion in Israel. Having lost the chance to enjoy the special support of the Trump administration in recent years for unilateralism against the Palestinians, the same administration, meanwhile, is worried about changes in Biden's US Middle East policy. With a series of operations, Netanyahu wants to block or at least slow down changes against the US future foreign policy.

In the United States, too, the Trump administration, frustrated and angry with the election results is in its final days. In such a situation, it would not be so unexpected if Trump wanted to take adventurous steps to confront the Biden administration which is scheduling a date to enter the White House on January 20, with new and more troubles. The movements of the US Navy in the southern waters of our country and Trump's threats to hold the Islamic Republic responsible for the death of even one American soldier in Iraq are worrying.

These provocations from outside, however, take place in a situation where the parliament, after the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, by approving the "Strategic Action Plan for the lifting of sanctions" by confirming the practical violation of JCPOA obligations by the Islamic Republic is asking for raising the level of the violation and the government has been obliged to stop the voluntary implementation of the Additional Protocol if Iran's oil and banking sanctions have not completely been lifted two months after the promulgation of this enactment. The Guardian Council has also ratified the resolution immediately and the Supreme Security Council has not considered it contrary to the national interests by bypassing its boss, Hassan Rouhani and in practice has approved its implementation. On the other hand, the suspicious attacks carried out by branches of "The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) (al-Ḥashd ash-Shaʿbi) " in Baghdad on American forces in Iraq are constantly raising the level of tension. In other words, in these circumstances, when our country needs to distance itself from tense measures, we are witnessing double colloquial and behavioral provocations by the Islamic Republic. These words and actions, even if they are done to strengthen the bargaining power in the negotiations, are games with fire and can have dangerous consequences for the people of our country.

In these critical moments, by expressing concern about incidents that are going on around our country and related to the fate of the Iranian people, the Left Party of Iran (People’s Fadaian), considers it necessary to warn about the tense actions of the Trump administration and Netanyahu's right-wing government, their movements and provocations in the Persian Gulf and the adventurous reciprocal reactions from the Islamic Republic. In our view, the way to neutralize foreign provocations, whether by the Netanyahu administration or Trump or any other administration, is not to resort to provocative reciprocal actions, but to declare adherence to the provisions of the JCPOA and express readiness to negotiate with the United States unconditionally. We condemn the tense actions of the US and Israeli governments and consider any action by the Islamic Republic that further inflames the current situation against the national interests of the Iranian people. We expect the United Nations and international defenders of peace bodies to work to curb the dangerous actions and reactions that are taking place around the borders of Iran and inside Iran.
