Following the failure of the unity talks between the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan (Komala) and the Kurdistan Workers' Komala (Workers), on the morning of Thursday, June 22, 2023, an armed conflict took place between forces of the two, during which two members of the Workers, Saman Ebrahimi and Hiva Sadeghi, died. And a number of others were injured.
Resorting to weapons and shooting at fellow comrades for any reason and by any force is unacceptable and condemned. The differences between these two political forces, which belong to the big movement of Komala, cannot, with any justification, be a reason for resorting to arms, instead of dialogue.
There is no doubt that the existence of differences in politics among political forces and separation based on differences is a natural phenomenon, but what happened is neither natural nor justified by political, organizational or even ideological differences.
The Left Party of Iran considers the armed action between political forces unjustifiable and condemns it. Our party expresses sympathy with the family of Saman Ebrahimi and Hiva Sadeghi and wishes for the recovery of the injured in this tragic incident. We expect the officials of both forces to condemn this action as soon as possible, take the necessary measures to prevent armed confrontation and pledge that they will no longer resort to using weapons against their comrades. We declare our readiness for any help in this direction.
