Killing and Execution of the Protest Demonstrators is an Act of Crime Against the Iranian People

Killing and Execution of the Protest Demonstrators is an Act of Crime Against the Iranian People
Statement of Six Democratic Republican Organizations and Parties

In the third decennium of the twenty-first century, at a time when many countries of the world have abolished  the death penalty, the protesters in the Islamic Republic of Iran are systematically  sentence to death. “Mizan” State News Agency, the official organ of the Judiciary of Iran, has reported in its Wednesday, 16 November 2022 issue, that the Revolution Court of Teheran has issued death penalty for three participants in the recent demonstrations. 227 deputies of the Islamic Assembly have asked for hard action against the protesters calling them enemies of God. This is in fact the continuation of the killing of the protesters in the streets and prisons.

The regime of the Islamic Republic, in its evident downfall course, is taking steps which are not permitted even within its own reactionary laws. Through its compliant courts, it concocts cases against the protestors and issues heavy punishments, which are bound to further escalate the unrest in the country. The public prosecutor has informed about the issuing of bills of indictment for 315 individuals “accused of provoking the recent unrest” in Tehran and has declared that 4 of the “rioters” are accused of enmity against God. The Chief Justice of Tehran Province has also said that: "Thousands of indictments have been issued for the detainees of the recent events in Tehran and the court (responsible for hearing the case) of these main elements of the riots will be held in public on all days of this week."

According to HRANA (Newsletter of the Human Rights’ Activists News Agency) of Iran, number of people who died in the last 58 days of protests reaches 344, of which 52 are children and teenagers. According to the report of HRANA, from 17 September up to 14 November of this year, 15820 protesters have been detained, of which the identity of 2027 has been verified. There is however, no information as yet on the whereabout of their detention and the organ which has detained them.

The latest unofficial news from Balochistan is that Mohsen Atashini has been executed in Zahedan prison. The execution of Iranian protestors is another stain of disgrace on the forehead of the Islamic Republic.

We, six Iranian democratic republican organizations and Parties consider the issuance and carrying out of the death penalty against the dissenters as an evident state crime and strongly condemn it. We request the freedom loving organs, political and civil activists and groups, the Iranians inside and abroad and the international bodies to rise, together with the Iranian people against the “death courts” of the Islamic Republic, to press the Islamic regime to abolish these courts and to free all political detainees.

We request and urge the abolishment of the death penalty and the freeing of all political prisoners.
